Some frequently asked questions about 1Password Families

1Password saves all your passwords and encrypts them with your Master Password – which only you know. To sign in to an account, just click or tap to fill your details with 1Password. Loved and used by millions. 1Password for iOS has full support for team and family accounts. It’s never been so easy to share the simple security of 1Password with those you work and live with. Add all your accounts — family, team, individual — and see all your information in one place. All 1Password accounts include Unlimited Devices Use 1Password on as many computers and devices as you own, whether at home or at work. 1Password Watchtower Receive alerts for compromised websites and vulnerable passwords so you can take action to stay secure. Likewise, when you create a new account at any time in the future, you can let 1Password create the password for you by clicking the 1Password icon in your browser, then Password Generator. I currently use 1password without any issues across my iOS devices (synced through iCloud). I’ve had it for many years, long before the introduction of subscription plans, and can access my account on all my devices, including my Mac.

  • Is there a free trial available?Yes, you can try out 1Password Families for free for 14 days. At the end of the trial period, you will be asked to enter your credit card information. All features are unlocked and available for you to experience during your trial.
  • What happens if my subscription lapses?You will never be locked out of your account or your data. If your subscription ends, you will still be able to access, view and export all your data. You just won’t be able to add new items or edit them.
  • What if I have more than five people in my family?That’s not a problem at all. You can invite as many family members as you need for an additional $1 per person / month.
  • Do I need to buy the apps separately?No. All our apps and upgrades are included with your subscription. You can download the apps from our site and sign right in to your account. No need for licenses!
  • What platforms are supported?1Password Families works with the latest version of the 1Password (Requires macOS High Sierra 10.13 or later and Windows 10 or newer). The mobile apps support iOS 12 and Android 5.0 or newer. You can also access all your information on 1Password.com, which works in modern web browsers. See our System requirements.
  • Can I use 1Password Families with my business or organization?No. 1Password Families is for personal use only. 1Password Teams is our service for companies and organizations of any size. You can learn more on our Teams page.
You can delete your 1Password account if you want to permanently remove your data from the service.

Tip

If you just want to cancel your subscription, you can do so without deleting your account. Your data will be kept safe for you if you decide to come back later.

You can also delete a vault or delete an item without deleting your entire account.

Deleting your account will permanently erase all your information from the 1Password service. When you delete your account:

  • your contact and payment information is immediately erased
  • you’ll no longer be able to sign in to 1Password.com or in the 1Password apps

You can’t restore a deleted account, so be absolutely sure you want to proceed.

Important

Deleting a team or family account will permanently erase the information for everyone who is part of the team or family.

Delete an individual account

To delete an individual account:

1password sign in
  1. Sign in to your 1Password account.
  2. Click your name in the top right, and choose My Profile.
  3. Click Permanently Delete Account at the bottom of the page.

Delete a team or family account

If you’re the team owner or family organizer, you can delete the account:

  1. Sign in to your 1Password account.
  2. Click Settings in the sidebar.
  3. Click Delete Family Account or Delete Team Account at the bottom of the page.

My 1password account

If you can’t access your account, you can still delete it:

  1. Go to https://start.1password.com/support
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue. You’ll get an email from 1Password.
  3. In the email, click “View my account”. You’ll see a list of your 1Password accounts.
  4. Click the name of the account you want to delete.
  5. Scroll down and click Delete Account.

Follow the instructions in the email you receive to delete your account.
